Review:

I have loved the previous books I’ve read by Mikayla so jumped at the chance to review this short story.

Although a short story there is plenty of pace and action.

There is a dual perspective approach to the book with the chapters alternating between the main family and the mysterious person who is set on causing chaos of destruction to family life.

I really enjoy the way that Mikayla builds up the back story through small snippets in the present and the way which the characters are developed. You instantly form a strong connection with some and a strong dislike for others yet these are often tested as the plot unfolds.

Blurb

Mistletoe. Wine. Murder.

It was supposed to be the perfect family Christmas. But when Holly Harvey arrives at her parents’ home with her newborn son and her husband Richard, tensions begin to simmer as soon as she steps through the door.

When Holly unwraps an unexpected gift from a mystery sender, she starts to question how well she knows the people she loves. What’s the meaning behind the gift, and will it have the power to shatter her life?

With truths unravelling fast, Holly wishes she never came home for the festivities. Because she is hiding the biggest secret of all - and if anyone finds out, it could destroy her.

But before she can leave the Christmas celebrations, someone close to her is found dead in the snow…

Christmas Day is a festive psychological thriller. It’s a short story and perfect for inhaling in one gulp along with some hot chocolate and cookies. This page-turning read is for fans of Lisa Jewell, Lucy Foley and Ruth Ware.
