Review:

I don’t really fit in to the young adult bracket but this book screamed read me from the minute I saw the cover and the title. What you must remember is that - Young adult means suitable for all adults (even those of us who are getting older).

Once you’ve been hooked by the title and cover, the blurb quite frankly finishes the deal. It promises vengeance, fast pace, humour and action. Let me tell you that it has all of those things in abundance.

Annie is not one to accept anything just lying down and that includes her own murder. She is strong willed, stubborn and at times down right rude but I guess diplomacy isn’t the top of your list when you’ve been murdered. The characters in this book are so well written and I could honestly dive in to a series looking at the stories of the other characters.

I don’t want to leave any spoilers so I will simply say that there are plenty of suspects and plenty of opportunities for you to change your mind about who dun it and why.

This is a must read book which I was desperate to finish but then felt sad when it was because I’ve enjoyed it so much. Huge thank you for the #gifted copy.

Blurb

Murdered bad girl Annie Lane is back from the grave and hellbent on revenge . . . she just has to figure out who killed her.

This fast-paced thriller by a talented debut delivers a horror-infused hunt for justice that's at once furiously feminist, darkly funny, and utterly satisfying.

Between her careless mom, her cheating ex-boyfriend, and her rotten reputation around town, Annie Lane is used to being left behind. But she's never been left for dead before--until she wakes up to find her body's been dumped on a mountain rumored to raise the dead.

Annie can't remember who killed her, but she'll stop at nothing to figure it out and make them pay. Because girls like her don't get justice unless they take it for themselves.

Codie Crowley's propulsive debut presents a furious and cathartic thriller skewering society's condemnation of "unlikeable" girls.

Author bio

Codie Crowley told a scary story at a childhood slumber party that caused a mass hysteria, and she's been chasing that high ever since. When she isn't writing chilling fiction, she's probably out looking for ghosts in Salem, Massachusetts, where she lives with her husband, their cat, and a collection of creepy dolls.
