Review:

This is not my usual sort of book so I was intrigued to give it a go. I’ve always believed that things happen for a reason but sometimes it’s hard to see that positive when you are going through something negative.

I found this book really interesting and helpful. There was no feel of preaching or judging. It was a suggestion of ways to help - there was room to miss out parts that didn’t suit and opportunities to develop those that would.

One of my favourite ideas was the concept of looking at beautiful things / awe and wonder. It’s interesting that these are things I actively encourage with my early years children but tend not to have time for in my personal life. Through this book I have been reminded that what is good for them is good for me and I have tried new things for me. My favourite of which was a paint along to create my own beautiful artwork that I can look at everyday.

I also like the idea of the resource lists at the end of the book. I was pleased to see some classics such as Chumbawamba and it made me think about the songs on my feel good playlist. The ones that make me think ‘Yes I Can!!’

The suggestions of affirmations and the affirmation colouring pages were by far my favourite and if you find meditation helpful then there are also suggestions for useful links.

This book is definitely one you need to dip into yourself but the layout is so easy to follow. It’s simple and consistent approach to each chapter makes it user friendly even for the most unsure person such as myself.
