Nimrod

Review:

I knew I wanted to read Nimrod as soon as I saw the email in my inbox for this blog tour.

The very thought of a book about the music I listened to as a teenager brought back so many memories and I was desperate for that trip down memory lane.

I wasn’t disappointed! Not only did Nimrod help me remember some of the best times of my life (and maybe a few of what seemed like the worst at the time) but the story itself was simply awesome.

Living in the shadow of his brother with a ban on music in his life - Rod doesn’t really have the teenage experience you would imagine. I was drawn in by Rod from the very beginning. A boy who has so many reasons to resent but rises above it to support his family.

His friendship with the library assistant and his awkwardness around anyone really did make him seem real.

I couldn’t help but have a positive mental attitude whilst reading the book. At every bump in the road when you think it’s all over there appears a glimmer of hope. Seeing Rod grow in himself as each chapter moved on with the help of Cat.

The characters are so very believable, the story well written and thought out, the links to music seamless and chapters that fly by. This really was an easy read because it was simply so well done.

If you are looking for a feel good book then I can highly recommend Nimrod!
