Review:
The whole family was excited when this book arrived.
Who doesn’t find bums funny? Straight away we were sold and desperate to read.
Little bookworm (age 5) loves the book. She thought it was hysterical and laughed out loud as we read together. She’s since read it over and over to her toys so that everyone can enjoy the book.
As a parent/teacher I loved the book - it is just pure fun. The illustrations are bold and colourful pulling you in to each page. I love the use of different fonts and text layouts to add to the aesthetic appeal of the book.
Not all books need to rhyme but let’s be honest it helps with the flow when reading aloud and is a definite bonus in terms of promoting early phonics skills. This book flowed well as I read it and the rhymes were not strained.
I can definitely see this on a tuff tray with animals as an inspiration for learning and story telling. Perfect to encourage animal matching, discussions about pattern and of course animals. There is a vast amount of descriptive language in the book which is wonderful and accessible for young children.
It reminded me of the Lion Who Wanted to love (maybe more to do with the illustrations) but for anyone who loves the Giles Andreae books then this is definitely a book to add to your collection.

A hilarious tale of Ziggy the zebra’s journey through the savannah, and the different animal bums he encounters on his quest!
When young zebra Ziggy accidentally causes a huge stampede, he finds himself lost and alone. But he knows he’ll find home again if he can just find out which bum’s mums! Along the way, he’ll encounter big ones, small ones, spotty ones,
tall ones, hairy bums, smelly bums, scaly ones and old ones, belonging to huge hippos, very tall giraffes, lazy lions and many more animals besides.
Written by Jonny Leighton and illustrated by Mike Byrne, the dynamic duo behind Does a Bear Poo in the Woods? this laugh-out-loud story will be accompanied by very cheeky illustrations to complete the bum-tastic odyssey.
