Review:
A beautiful and calm book that tells of the bond between father and daughter as well as teaching both the young and old about the process of honey from bee to jar.
The flowing text rhymes and rolls as you read this book aloud - it isn’t forced each page has an ease about it which makes it a joy to read. Through the story we follow the main character as she wonders about how honey is made and then goes on to help her father harvest their honey from the hives in a process which is nothing like she imagined.
I absolutely loved the gentle illustrations- they fill the page with boldness and brightness but are at the same time soft and subtle. I would love them as prints and have since sought out other books illustrated by Zoe.
This is one of those wonderful picture books which crosses between fiction and non fiction. A perfect introduction to non fiction for young children who can learn the facts through the story.
Little Bookworm is 5 and I would say she is a perfect age for sharing this book.
Definitely 5 stars for myself and Little Bookworm.
