Little Bookworm (5) and I both thoroughly enjoyed this story. A perfect one for bedtime as part of that getting ready (bath and brush hair) routine.

This was a brilliant story for building empathy. It is also great for building understanding and letting children identify with others. Most of us have experienced the pain of brushing knots out of our hair and children know how that feels.

Little Bookworm really felt for Princess No Knots and offered some sound advice (She didn’t want them to brush her hair because it hurt lots - if she stands still it will be better) - If only she would take her own advice.

I enjoyed reading the book - the rhyme worked well and the layout of the text was nice as it weaves across the page.  I also loved the facial expressions in the book - the illustrator captured so many emotions and they made me smile.

If you’ve got a little one who doesn’t like having their hair brushed then this is definitely a book for you. However it’s also just a lovely book in its own right - it isn’t really just about hair brushing. It’s about facing up to things that we need to do even if we don’t like them. A valuable lesson for us all. Sometimes we just have to do things!

Thank you for letting us share in the blog tour for this book - it has become a firm favourite in our library.

Author Bio:

Deborah Dillon's love of books, poems and story telling stems from her Granddad Jim who always used to make up stories at bedtime when she was young. Every story would take her to crazy worlds of adventure and friendship, each story sprinkled with a tiny bit of determination.

Since having children of her own Deborah has continued this family tradition but rather than keeping all the stories in her head, she decided to write them down. As her children were growing upshe was inspired to write about whatever obstacles or challenges they, or their friends, faced then overcame.

Deborah is a firm believer that something magical happens when you read a book together.
