Lights In The Night

 Lights in the Night

by Chris Barash and Maya Shleifer

Thank you to Green Bean Books for this wonderful gift.

I am somewhat determined that little bookworm will have access to books that teach her to understand the diverse world she lives in. It’s always nice to have books that explore different religions or cultures - often though they can feel forced. This is far from forced - A gently flowing story about the lights that welcome in the Shabbat. Full of peace and tranquillity, accompanied by illustrations that embrace family and hope.

This book left me with a feeling of calm after I read it.

Little bookworm and I have been enjoying this as a bedtime story and it has led to discussion about lights and what they mean to us. We have also both enjoyed the glow in the dark aspect. (She’s never seen it before so it really was magical for her)

I look forward to being able to share this with the children I work with and would recommend it to anyone looking for high quality books that promote an understanding of the world we live in.
